Garage and storage sheds are usually the most complicated rooms to pack due to the sharp, heavy and odd shaped items that are very hard to pack.

Consider making a garage sale and get rid of items that are no longer necessary for you and you can make profit of, while enjoying new items at your new residence.

Many items such as oils and gas tanks that are easily found in a garage cannot be shipped read about them in our list of non-transportable items

Tools

Brooms, mops and other long garden tools should be bundled together.

  • Tools boxes can be packed as they are but its suggested in order to prevent any tools inside from shifting to fill any voids in the tool boxes with packing paper. Use only small boxes for heavy tools and tools boxes.
  • Old towels can be used to wrap sharp edged tools, if you do not have any old towels you spend for wrapping, packing tightly with packing paper is also possible.

Rakes & Brooms

Brooms, rakes, shovels, and other long tools alike should not be packed, get them for your movers to either pad in a bundle or pack in another way as they see fit.

Umbrella

Best wrapped in plastic bag and tape shut. In case plastic bag is not available paper padding is also possible.

Make sure umbrella is clean and dry before packing.

The umbrella weight stand is to transported unpacked.

Grill

Get rid of used charcoal, any unused charcoal you want to take to your new residence you will have to carry by yourself.

Outdoor Equipment

Disassemble all children's playground, TV antennas and garden sheds you want to move prior to the moving day.

  • Place all screws and other hardware parts in a small can, label it and if possible attach to the corresponding equipment securely,
  • Lawn mower should be empty from gasoline on the moving day.

Pots and Planters

Consult your moving company about moving plants, most companies do not have license for carrying those.

Small pottery can be packed like any other fragile item using as much cushioning, packing paper or bubble wrap possible.

Trash Cans

If you decide to take garbage cans with you to your new residence remember to clean them first and incase you have several garbage cans check it it's possible to pack them inside each other so they take less space, just don't let them get too heavy.

  • snow or gas leaf blower
  • kids playground
  • storing shed
  • portable swimming pool
  • hot tub / Jacuzzi
  • jungle gym
  • dog house or kennel
